The Mystic Healer: Meet Christine Lu Singh of High Impact Healing

By Emily Merrell

Christine is someone that has been exploring her spiritual side over the last few years. Yet in the past few years she’s taken her love of spirituality to the next level becoming certified in breathwork training, delving deeper into understanding crystals and founding High Impact Healing with other healers. This SF based healer is always a breath of fresh air to be around and I dare you not to feel touched by magic after spending an afternoon with her.

SDS: Can you share with us your journey of exploring your spiritual side?

CHRISTINE LU SINGH: I’ll start off by saying that everyone has their own journey and the universe will send us breadcrumbs and messages until we are ready to receive and take action. Once you decide you are open to guidance beyond yourself and start paying attention to these messages, things will start to fall into place and can unfold quickly from there.

In the last few years I realized that I was not genuinely fulfilled in my day-to-day life, even though on paper, it felt like I had everything. My journey began when I saw an energy healer that was recommended by a coworker. As I was telling her about my life, she read my energy and advised that I was not being fulfilled by my current job. I was not ready to hear that at the time (who would after spending almost a decade in building a career that I had loved?!), and yet the messages continued to appear.

I attended my very first breathwork class and had one of the most profound experiences when I noticed a force twisting and turning in my tummy area. When I asked the instructor about it, she clapped her hands in excitement and said it was my solar plexus awakening, and that I should listen to my creative spirit within. Of course at the time, I had no idea what she meant by that. I didn’t realize it at the time but every experience was a breadcrumb that led me to seek for more clarity and answers. I saw a tarot card reader a few months later and she offered the perspective that I was suffering from the widening gap between my ego (my work, my identity) and my soul (my inner truth). In order to find happiness, I would need to work on aligning the two. Slowly, the messages began to make more and more sense as I connected the dots.

I started turning to meditation, retreating inward to sit with myself and really listen to what my soul and inner truth wanted and needed. This led me to finally deciding to leave my full-time job and go off on my own to freelance and do what I love most: bring people together to share meaningful experiences and access their inner joy. I realized that by going through what I feared the most and making it on the other side, I was unlocking my own freedom.

A year of adventures ensued where I gave myself permission to explore anything that gave me light without worrying about the how, the why or any fear associated with it. I signed up for cooking school, hosted my first workshop which was a DIY dumpling cooking class, tried surfing for the first time, traveled on my own, explored the coast in a camper van, hosted my first meditation circle, and so much more. My life has completely changed since I decided to say YES to myself and I know this is just the beginning.

SDS: Let’s talk crystals. For those out there who don’t know the power of crystals, can you share why they are important?

CLS: Crystals can mean so many things to different people – I could write a whole separate article on this! It is believed that they have healing properties and you can use crystals to amplify your spiritual connection to source. You can have them in your home, at work, in your pocket (literally wherever!) to call in things you’re looking for. A few crystals that I always have around are amethyst (neutralizes negative energy), selenite (for clearing the home and cleaning your crystals), black tourmaline (for grounding and protection) and rose quartz (for unconditional love).

They say that crystals have a way of finding their rightful owners so if you’re calling in a crystal into your life, use all of your senses to pay attention to which crystals are catching your eye. They can communicate with you by being visually mesmerizing where you can’t take your eyes off of them. You can also hold them to see how they feel in your hand (they can vibrate depending on how attuned you are). I always encourage people to use their intuition to pick out a crystal and then look up their specific meaning to see how it resonates with you.

SDS: What are your favorite spiritual tools? From tarot to breathwork, where do you stand on it all?

CLS: I love working with tarot to receive messages from the universe. I’ve had multiple tarot readings that have offered me guidance and a perspective that often challenges me to go beyond my comfort zone. I’ve since started working with decks that speak to me and have been using them to channel messages for myself and others. Every reading is an opportunity to dive deep and learn more about ourselves.

Breathwork has given me some of the most profound and transformative experiences. Knowing that breath is our source of life and power, I have a lot of affinity towards breathwork –  especially given that it’s accessible and within all of us. I recently completed my certification in Revelation Breathwork and have been given the incredible opportunity to offer weekly Breathwork classes at Anchor Meditation, the studio where I took my very first breathwork class in 2018. I’m also signed up to train with David Elliott later this year and I look forward to continuing down this path to see where it’ll lead me.

As part of my self-care rituals, I’ve been drawn to reiki, restorative and yin yoga, soundbaths, soaking in epsom salt baths and best of all, spending time in nature. There are so many modalities to explore.

What I’ll say to anyone who is on their own journey, is to tune in and let your intuition guide you. Everyone is unique, we all carry our own storylines and are healing from different experiences from our lives so I encourage people to try everything at least once to see what resonates. What you need at the time will also evolve as you continue on your journey, so trust that everything is unfolding as it should and what may not resonate with you now may be important for you later on.

SDS: As someone who used to work a full-time role in PR to going out on your own, how do you recommend exploring this spiritual side while working full-time?

CLS: In the beginning of my journey, I started to meditate. That helped to relax the nervous system, take the time to pause between life and put things into perspective. Before doing anything in the morning, including checking email, I recommend prioritizing meditation while you’re still fresh before  your day takes over. I use Calm as part of my daily meditation practice, and they have these wonderful daily meditations that are only ten minutes long. I also love taking a few minutes to write in a Gratitude journal, which primes me to think about how my day will go and prepare me to be grateful for things that have not happened yet.

I believe in the power of learning via group workshops and experiences within a supportive community, so I also attended a lot of in-person events after work. If you live in San Francisco, my favorite wellness centers to check out are The Assembly, Anchor Meditation and The Center SF and of course, wonderful organizations like Six Degrees Society. They have an abundance of workshops and holistic health practitioners that can introduce you to many different aspects of yourself.

Reading has also been a catalyst in expanding my mind and the books that have changed my life so far include The Untethered Soul and Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less.

SDS: Tell us about the events you’ve hosted,  what’s on the docket in the next few months and how we can learn more.

CLS: It has been a fun adventure so far, following where my intuition leads me! I have collaborated with incredible women while making magic happen. I’ve hosted a number of workshops including crystal-infused candle making, new moon and full moon meditation circles, mindful cooking classes, weekly sister circles and so much more. This led to the manifestation of High Impact Healing Events, a wellness collective that I created with Carly Bialosky and Veneé McGee, two incredible souls with their own gifts of healing. Our mission is to create events and offer services designed to awaken and nourish the full potential of human awareness in each individual. Stay tuned for an official launch to come, March 2020!

Starting February 28th, I will start offering weekly breathwork classes at Anchor Meditation on Friday evenings. I will also be leading a breathwork session at the Ebb & Flow Daylong Wellness Retreat in Muir Woods on February 29th which will be a powerful day to go deep with other soul sisters (get in touch with me for a promo code!) In March, I’ll be hosting an Intuitive Collage workshop at ALT Summit, an incredible conference with over 2,000 female creative entrepreneurs. There’s a lot more in the works, so I invite you to stay in touch on the latest updates by signing up for my newsletter and saying hi on Instagram @christinetlu
