The Ultimate Mompreneur: Meet Stephanie Trzaska, The Woman Helping Moms Become Entrepreneurs Without Compromising Their Families

By Emily Merrell

In true entrepreneurial fashion, Stephanie Trzaska noticed an opportunity when her Instagram following continued to reach out and ask for help to start their own businesses. So, she stepped up to the plate and pivoted from her original idea. From a Montessori consultant to launching Little Scraps of Magic, she now guides moms to balance their businesses with their family lives, starting with finding their why.

SDS: When you started your business you originally thought you’d be a Montessori consultant. Now, a little over one year later, your business has grown considerably and evolved more into business coaching and community. Tell us what inspired those pivots?

STEPHANIE TRZASKA: Staying close to the ultimate why behind my business allowed me to remain totally open to where my business would take me. That and listening to what my audience was coming to me for.

My why was time, freedom and autonomy to live a flexible life where I could spend as much time with my son as possible. I started with Montessori consulting and digital events for moms because that’s what I knew. My professional experience and education told me one thing– that I’d be great at helping parents implement Montessori at home and connecting women in the community. My Instagram following told me another thing– there were moms out there just like me who desired to start a business so they could spend more time with their children…yet they didn’t know where to start.

These moms saw me promoting my business on IG and began asking me how I did it and if I could help them start their businesses or gain clarity on their visions. I offered my advice & support for free to a couple of women, saw the transformations taking place for them and felt a natural ability and calling in my heart.

Within three  months of starting my business, I’d shifted into business coaching and then quickly saw mindset blocks as a major pain point for my clients. I now incorporate that into so much of the work we do. Through 1:1 coaching, group programs and hosting digital events, I saw a great desire for a deeper community for mompreneurs, and from that need, launched Little Scraps of Magic membership for entrepreneurial minded moms.

SDS: You’ve created an incredible community of ambitious mamas. What is one thing that surprised you about the community?

ST: Just how easy it was to build it. There was clearly such a deep desire and need for a space for moms to come together and learn about business alongside other mamas who just GET IT. Being a mom is hard.Being a solopreneur is hard. Being both during a pandemic? Shit. There’s nothing better than being in a space with other women who are in the literal and figurative shit with you.

SDS: What’s been your biggest learning since starting your business?

ST: That I am so much more capable than I ever allowed myself to believe. That I have natural gifts that can change the lives of those around me. Being a business owner and a coach is challenging…but honestly, not nearly as challenging as a lifetime believing I was smaller than I am. Of trying to fit into a mold I wasn’t made for.

SDS: You’ve recently returned from maternity leave after having your second baby. What did you learn about yourself during this maternity leave?

ST: Damn. I think I’m still working through that one. My first year of business, I was basically pregnant the whole time, while also parenting a toddler in a pandemic with two days per week of childcare. The adrenaline of building my business and supporting other moms in doing the same…watching them blossom before my eyes…it sent me into a motivational space I can’t believe I had the energy for.

Going on maternity leave with baby #2 just as my business felt it was rising up was hard. Then my second son was born and had a lot of health issues that made him a pretty unhappy babe, so leave was just a miserable, exhausting, heartbreaking sort of blur. Upon my return back to work, I’ve learned to always come back to the why behind my business and why I started. When I’m connected to that, I create, support, and lead from a place that feels at ease – and I remain so locked in and present with my kids.

SDS: How has your relationship to motherhood evolved as your business has grown?

ST: Such a great question. Prior to starting my business, my entire identity and happiness was wrapped up in motherhood. After having my first son, I sort of rejected being a teacher and working at a school. I only felt happy when I was home with Bruce. While my kids are still the most important thing in my life, my business has given me so much life, joy, and opportunity for growth as a human being.

I feel I’m always learning about life, making powerful, deep connections with other women, and I can’t put into words the satisfaction and sense of peace that brings into my daily life. Business has allowed me to step back from motherhood in ways that I believe are healthy for me and my children.

SDS: How can people learn more about you? Any exciting offerings coming up?

ST: I’m most active on Instagram– @stephanie.trzaska. I’m in the process of refining my website– taking longer than expected as a mom of two, haha! But there’s lots of info there– littlescrapsofmagic.com. And I’ll be opening the Little Scraps of Magic Membership to the public soon, right now it’s just Founding Members.
